I Will Still Be Kind While I’m Terrified.

Watch the little video above, no sound needed. First, before we get to some good stuff, I want to tell you a story.

I am terrified of birds. I’m talking phobia levels. This is how bad. I went into a pet store once to buy treats for a friend with ratties. Picture me with bags of groceries and bullshit, I was excited there were bunnies to play with and then a scarlet parrot was right there. I froze. Then the bird looked right at me, did a wing spread and started yelling.

I burst into tears, dropped all my shit and literally ran out and across the street to hide in a bus shelter sobbing. The very kind owner of the shop felt terrible about this. She put the bird away and got me back into the store and let me sit crying on her bunnies until I calmed down.

I’m not quite that afraid of birds anymore but…well. You know how a started horse will sometimes kind of trot away while making a walleyed kind of face? If birds fly near me or flap in my peripherals I do that. I have been known to cower and whimper if a seagull gets too close. I have been trying to conquer this fear for years because my partner loves birds and they love him.
