Welcome back homies. Today we’re gonna talk a bit about when products don’t work. First, a story. See part one here.
The first expensive skin care I ever purchased was way back in my 20s and it was the full set of OG proactiv. Spoiler alert, my skin went buck fuckin wild. Not only did I have a reaction but, since I’d spent so much money on the stuff I used it all and my skin was in a bad state for a good 8 months.
Fast forward to 2018. I was sent some Clarins products for review. They are expensive AF. I specifically was excited about the Clarins Extra-Firming Wrinkle Control Night Cream. I did not like it. Why, it is expensive, has a long standing good rep for skin care and yet, it was not good.
Let’s talk about reasons why a product can be meh to OH SHIT NO GET THIS BULLSHIT OFF MY FACE and what we can do about it and then we’ll talk about what to do with those products.
- If you experience immediate redness, burning, itching or not rightness, get that shit off of your face right away. The burn says its working is not a good way to go about skincare. This is why, I preach the gospel of the patch test. This is more important if you’ve got sensitive skin, if you’re on medications, if you’re pregnant or having some hormonal stuff happening. You patch test by putting a dab of product either somewhere on your jaw (I use the corner by my ear) and wait. If your skin doesn’t have a reaction, YAY. If it does that product might…
