On “Inclusive” Sizing, fitness and fatness.
Part II, Still Mad.
If you read Part I you know I don’t like folks misusing politically charged language to try and sell me clothing. In this installment I’m going to talk a bit more about my own experiences and include some that were meant to be body, queer and lots of other good stuff inclusive.
One of the things the Internet knows about me is that I am into gender related stuff. Masculine clothing tailored for AFAB bodies being one of them. This is an area of life where, a lot of people want to talk the talk of inclusion, body love, and love of ALL of us queers but, when it comes down to it, they ain’t about that life.
A few years ago, I was yammering on twitter about my dream masculine wardrobe. I was talking with some other AFAB femmes who sometimes want manly clothing and it was one of those cathartic awesome days on twitter where I found some solidarity and community. We talked about big ole thighs, big ass titties none of us were interested in binding etc. A few days after I got a DM from an up coming brand of masculine wear for AFAB bodies.
They said all the right things to me. They talked about fat NB folks, hips, thighs, big ole booties ALL of the things that made me interested. However, when I was invited to shop their pre sale, voila. Their “inclusive” line went up to a woman's size 22ish, their sizing was on par with say Old Navy but, things were not great.
